So, big week last week for ITB-ers… Brewery gets bulldozed and Fosters is in fetters.
For Foster’s- or is it Felson’s- this is a decades-long run come to an end (rumors about the owner putting it up his nose or underage-drinking-gone-girl-in-hospital-wrong abound – emphasis on the word rumors, send the hate mail to your ex instead). I’m just wondering where all the pastel polos will hang now? Certainly not Brooklyn Heights. Oh, c’mon- that was too fun of a jab to sidestep.
But the Brewery. That’s local-band folklore. Or, if you went to State, at least one good memory of cheap beer at high decibels. Somehow Don McLean’s ‘the day the music died’ is looping in my head – and while i doubt this demolition is “American Pie” symbolic (although the likes of Jane’s Addiction and Ryan Adams have taken stage), the fact that the 27-year-old music mainstay is being replaced by a drugstore (prozac nation anyone?), a parking deck and apartments – well, i just threw up in my mouth a little. and Don McLean no doubt rolled over in his grave. Hopefully they’ll come up with something far less soul-crushing to do with the Foster’s space.

Posted by Davey Z | August 9, 2011, 11:20 amI hate to see these establishments go. I used to frequent both during college and have a lot of fond memories there with friends and the like. Oh well, change is hard, but progress is good I guess:-)
